Study of the clinical features of Downs’s syndrome and relation between dermatoglyphics and congenital heart disease if any

Introduction: Down syndrome is one of the most common cause congenital malformation with mental retardation seen an estimated prevalence 1/600 – 1/800 births. A wide range abnormalities are seen, some which characteristic Downs syndrome. Objectives and Aim: The present study was aimed at studying various clinical features including dermatologlyphic patterns in to find any correlation heart disease. Materials Methods: 34 children £18 years down syndromes were assessed for presentation dermatoglyphic analyzed. Those congenial disease also noted check syndrome.3 ml blood drawn thyroid function recorded. Results: majority observed include slanted palpebral fissure, icrocephaly, epicanthal fold, macroglossia, hypotonia, flat facies, brachycephaly, high arched palate. Dermatoglyphic show increased simian crease clinodactly ulnal loops on finger tips atd angle >45 children. Statistically significant found when left hand, third inter digital space pattern, open field defect sandal gap toes compared CHD.
